New York

Leaving New York
Afloat
Above a cloud a while
The pressure builds in my ears
Head
Heart
My stomach left behind
Along with my thoughts
The engine’s roar
Reduced to a hum
As downward we plunge
Down under the cloud
Turn now
Back to a previous land
Blocked from the sun
Rushing to the earth
We jolt and touch down
And dash to stop
The engine changes modes
Slow down to coast
Along the ground
